Health-on-Line shares the love for annual Charity Valentine’s Raffle

Thursday, February 08, 2018

With romance in the air, local health insurer Health-on-Line saw this as a fantastic opportunity to spread the love amongst its staff, as well as the local community by holding its annual Valentine’s Raffle. Not only did staff get into the Valentine’s Day mood but they also raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Caring Locally and Dorset Mind.

Having taken place on 9th February, the event was the ideal occasion for anyone struggling to think of a gift for that special someone. Over 20 individual prizes were kindly donated by local businesses, ranging from a luxury overnight stay at The Marriott to a NuVo hairdressing experience, as well as a variety of vouchers for first-rate Dorset restaurants - including a three course lunch for two at The Jetty and £30 to spend at Koh Thai.

Health-on-Line would also like to extend a huge thank you to Small Prints Jewellery, the Green House Hotel, Naked Coffee, and Chicken & Blues for their generous donation of prizes.

The Valentine’s raffle itself was an enormous success, with employees from all four floor of its office snapping up raffle tickets for a chance to win an array of attractive prizes, as well as raising both funds and awareness for the charities.

As a result, Health-on-Line staff managed to raise over £1000 with all proceeds going towards its chosen charities for 2018; leading mental health charity Mind and local trust, Macmillan Caring Locally.

Fiona Carter, a member of the Charity Panel at Health-on-Line said:

“Macmillan Caring Locally do such important work within our local community – in 2018, we are aiming to help raise money for a new building they are hoping to build at Christchurch Hospital. Dorset Mind does vital work on both a local and national scale. As a company we wanted to support them both, and are delighted and very thankful for the support we have received in organising this event from businesses throughout the local area.”

Macmillan Caring Locally is a Charitable Trust which operates from within the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital. Established in 1974, the trust aims to support those who are suffering from cancer and other terminal diseases, as well as their families. Their Brick by Brick Appeal aims to build an extensive new unit at their Christchurch site, a project that requires five million pounds to launch. As a local Dorset charity, Macmillan Caring Locally work separately from and are not affiliated with Macmillan Cancer Support. Please visit the Macmillan Caring Locally website to find out more.

For more than 70 years, Mind has provided support and guidance to those suffering from mental health, and their loved ones. Statistically, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health issue each year and Mind campaigns to make sure nobody has to face these problems alone. Although affiliated with the national charity, Dorset Mind generate all of their own fundraising and aim to educate the public and challenge stigma in county, as well as provide support towards mental health wellbeing and recovery. Please visit the Dorset Mind website to find out more.

The Valentine’s raffle falls under Health-on-Line’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility Programme which has been put in place to support the local community and charities throughout 2018. Over the last four years, the CSR initiative has donated more than £40,000 to nominated charities through fundraising activities such as a Masquerade Ball at the Hilton Bournemouth and a Superhero Fun Run with children from local schools. The Valentine’s raffle is the first of many activities and initiatives planned for the upcoming year.

Customer Reviews

  • “Excellent customer service. The Heath plan was catered to my needs and requirements. I'm very impressed with the low price. Had I known how affordable health insurance was before I'd have taken it out years ago.”
