Health-on-Line launches a new health and wellbeing programme, HOListic Wellbeing for their employees. Highlighting the need for companies to provide more of a focus on employees wellbeing, the new scheme kicked off with a wellbeing fair on the 7th February with local companies, such as Mint Barbers and Naked Coffee, joining the Bournemouth office to help launch the new initiative.
Built around the 5 Ways of Wellbeing model introduced to Health-on-Line by national charity, Mind, the programme involves events and initiatives that will run throughout the year that fit into categories of either connect, active, mindful, learn or give; with the overall aim of improving personal wellbeing.
Vicky Young, head of HR at Health-on-Line said: “We are really excited to be launching our Health and Wellbeing programme – HOListic Wellbeing in 2019. Our people are at the centre of everything we do and supporting them with both their physical and mental wellbeing is our number one priority.
“Life can be pretty pressured at times and as an employer we realise we have a huge role to play in providing our employees with tools and opportunities to help them cope with what life can throw at them – whether this be helping them achieve their fitness goals, maintain positive mental health or giving them an opportunity to be involved with the local community.”
The aim is for employees to create their own wellbeing plan – identifying which of the five actions they would like to excel in, and which they would like to concentrate on developing more.
Under the ‘learn’ element Louise Jones from Food for Thought Cookery School came in to talk about leading a healthier lifestyle. She offered her tips and tricks to eating healthier and feeling energised, along with treating staff to a cookery demonstration where she offered samples of her natural healthy chocolate and cookies.
Local barbers Mint offered free haircuts in the ‘mindful’ zone and were joined by a masseuse providing mini neck and shoulder massage and a manicurist giving express Shellac manicures.
In the ‘active’ area yoga tasting sessions were offered and lunchtime walks for those that wanted to get away from their desks. The ‘connect’ zone also offered some relaxation, with a coffee corner provided by Naked Coffee and a whole host of board games allowing the opportunity to talk to different departments in the business.
It is hoped that this day will kick-start the initiatives at Health-on-Line this year, with continuing opportunities on all categories, including supporting Dorset Children’s Foundation and Dorset Mind under the ‘Give’ category.
Vicky Young said: “It was an amazing achievement to be recognised as a finalist at the Dorset Business Awards, in the Health and Wellbeing category and that has really spurred us on to do more, understand what our employees want and deliver an engaging and bespoke programme just for them.
