Discover Business Protect

In-patient hospital costs including accommodation, tests, surgery, drugs and dressings.

• Specialist fees for surgeons, anaesthetists and physicians if you have treatment as an in-patient and a day-patient.
• Diagnostic tests.
• Hospital accommodation for one parent when their child under 16 is covered by the plan and is receiving eligible treatment
• Out-patient CT, MRI and PET scans.
• Out-patient surgery.
• Ambulance transport to another medical facility if your employee is receiving private treatment.
• 60% cash contribution if a hospital or day-patient unit is used that’s not in our Hospital List.

We won’t pay for cancer treatment. You’ll use the NHS instead, or pay for the treatment yourself. During treatment, if your specialist wants to use a licensed cancer drug which is approved for your treatment but that the NHS won’t pay for, we’ll pay for that drug and the cost of giving you the drug. (This doesn’t include out-patient drugs as they aren’t covered).

The same cover as ‘Treatment option with NHS Cancer Support’, plus we will pay for cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Here are the three levels of out-patient options you can choose from.

Standard Out-patient:

• Up to two specialist consultations a year with a Business Protect specialist.
• No yearly limit on diagnostic tests on specialist referral.

Enhanced Out-patient:

• Up to four specialist consultations per year with a Business Protect specialist.
• No yearly limit for diagnostic tests on specialist referral and practitioner fees.

Full Out-patient:

• No yearly limit for specialist consultations with a Business Protect specialist.
• No yearly limit for diagnostic tests on specialist referral and practitioner fees.

• No yearly limit on fees for out-patient treatment by physiotherapists, acupuncturists, homeopaths,
  osteopaths or chiropractors.
• Up to 10 sessions a year when your employee is referred by the Working Body team or a GP.
• Further sessions (as long as we agree them first) when referred by a specialist.

• Private hospital and day-patient unit fees for psychiatric treatment, including accommodation, diagnostic tests and drugs. (This doesn’t include out-patient drugs as they aren’t covered by the plan.)
• In-patient specialist fees for psychiatric treatment.
• 60% cash contribution if a hospital or day-patient unit is used that’s not in our Hospital List.
• Out-patient specialist consultations for psychiatric treatment.
• Out-patient fees for psychologists and cognitive behavioural therapists.
• Face-to-face, email or telephone counselling through our Stronger Minds support team with no need to see a GP first. Only counselling sessions arranged through Stronger Minds are covered by the plan. Employees must be over 18 years of age to use this service.

• Up to £500 a year for visits to a private GP for consultations.

• 80% of your dentist’s fees, up to £400 a year.
• 80% of the cost of prescribed glasses and contact lenses, up to £200 a year.
• Up to £25 a year for an eye test.

There are two levels of travel cover offered by AXA Health. These give cover towards emergency medical treatment abroad.

Here are the two levels of EAP you can choose from.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – Essential

• 24/7 phone support for psychological issues.
• LifeManagement – help with legal, debt, family, consumer and housing concerns.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – Premier

• Same as EAP Essential. In addition you’ll get up to eight sessions of face-to-face counselling, online live-chat counselling and support for managers to meet day-to-day team responsibilities.

Add an excess

The higher your excess, the lower your price. You can choose the level of excess required for each employee – from £0, all the way up to £750.

Your employees or their family members pay this amount if they make a claim. It only needs to be paid once per person in each plan year.

Please note an excess is not available for some cover options. You can speak to our Account Managers to find out which options can be taken out with an excess.

Select NHS Cancer Support

If you choose NHS Cancer Support as an option for your business, we won’t pay for the treatment of cancer, lowering your plan costs. You will need to use the NHS or pay the costs of the treatment yourself.

However, if your specialist wants to use a licensed cancer drug which is approved for your treatment but the NHS won’t pay for, we’ll pay for that drug and the cost of giving you the drug (this doesn’t include out-patient drugs as they
aren’t covered).

As with any insurance plan, there are things that Business Protect doesn’t cover.

The exclusions will depend on the options you choose but the main exclusions are:

• Treatment of conditions that the member had, or had symptoms of, before they joined the plan.
• Treatment of on-going, recurrent and long-term illness.
• Routine pregnancy and childbirth.
• Cosmetic treatment.
• If you choose a hospital that’s not in the hospital list we will only pay a contribution of 60% towards the hospital fees.
• If you choose the European and Worldwide Travel Cover option, you will not be covered if you or anyone covered by the option is not medically fit to travel, travels against medical advice or where someone has failed to exercise all reasonable care.
  
  In addition we cannot cover any claims for medical treatment, loss of deposit, cancellation and curtailment where the insured member is terminally ill or has a psychiatric condition. You must also check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for the latest updates as travelling against their advice is also not covered under this plan.
