Assistant Management Accountant description

We have an exciting role available within our Finance team – we are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to provide support in all areas of the accounting function. This is a busy and varied role which will require you to put the best possible service at the heart of everything you do.

What will I be doing?

  • You will take ownership of the employee expense process, which will involve posting employee expense forms onto Sage 50 and ensuring the expense policy is adhered to at all times
  • Reconciliation of commission statements from various providers and posting onto Sage 50
  • Assisting the Management Accountant with month-end journals and reporting
  • You will be the Finance representative on projects around the business (For example the implementation of a new commission control project)
  • You will be analysing large data sets, looking for trends, patterns and anomalies
  • Ad hoc cover as and when required for various tasks within the finance team
  • As part of your role you will ensure all actions completed by yourself and others follow agreed finance controls principles, pro-actively considering areas where improvements can be made
  • System maintenance – identifying any problems with the in-house system and liaising with the IT team to resolve any discrepancies

You will be working in an open plan environment. Our opening hours are between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday; you will be contracted to work a 35 hour week, usually 9am to 5pm.

What skills and experience are we looking for?


  • Management accounting experience
  • Part CIMA qualified
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to multi-task in an organised manner
  • Self-motivation and willingness to learn
  • Strong and positive work ethic and attitude
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure and remain effective


  • Knowledge of Sage 50
  • Insurance experience
