Child Friendly Exercises - Team Sports
Getting your child into a team sport is a great way to encourage them to exercise as part of their normal routine. It’s also a really good opportunity for them to make new friends, work together, and improve their social skills as well as boost their confidence.
Which team sports are best?
Your child may already have an idea of what they’d like to play, whether that’s through P.E lessons at school or just watching it on the telly. Different sports can have different benefits, so if they’re not sure what they’d like, it’s a good idea to try out a few options before settling.
Sports such as football are great for improving balance and agility, and are an excellent cardio workout too. Other team sports like basketball are ideal for children to play. The great thing about basketball is anyone can take part, regardless of their level, and it’s great for working on hand-eye coordination as well as working as a team.
Gymnastics is another great sport to get into. Joining a club can help with your child’s strength, flexibility and determination, and should they enjoy it, gymnastics can provide the opportunity to compete in both group and individual events, too.
Whichever sport your child settles on, playing as a team is something the whole family can get in on. Team sports can also help to teach your child important lessons about winning and losing, as well as working together with people of different skill levels.
