Child friendly exercises: Yoga

Just as it’s beneficial for adults, yoga can be a great form of exercise for children, too. It can help with flexibility, concentration and confidence, as well as being a great way to get them into exercise. It’s also something you can enjoy doing together.

What is yoga?

Yoga is a form of exercise that is great for improving flexibility and strength, while focusing on breathing to improve overall wellbeing. It incorporates a sequence of poses and postures that work together with your breathing, and for most, yoga is great for achieving a calm mind, all the while improving general health.

How does it benefit children?

The concentration required to move through each yoga pose can help children to simply focus on what they’re doing, without becoming distracted, as well as becoming aware of others around them.

Yoga for children helps to boost their flexibility, as it does in adults. It can help them to use their muscles, and can be very rewarding for them as their ability increases through practice. Yoga can be a really good start in getting children interested in learning something new, as it can be both engaging physically and mentally.
