Health-on-Line pledges its support to three Dorset charities
Private Medical insurer Health-on-Line has recently announced that it will be supporting three Dorset-based charities throughout 2016
Following on from the success of the Company’s charity events in 2015, raising over £21,000, the private medical insurer has pledged to help three charities this year, as voted for by it’s employees; all of which are based in the local area - the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, The Isabel Baker Foundation and Diverse Abilities.
Following on from last year, the newly formed Health-on-Line charity panel have already begun putting into place their creative fundraising ideas, running a Valentines event, through to an Easter Fundraiser, with the support of Sainsbury’s in Ferndown –already raising over £2000 for Charity. Fiona Carter, a Charity Panel member at Health-on-Line said:
“We are pleased to announce our support of each of these local charities and are looking forward to raising as much as we can to support each of the individual services they provide to the Dorset community. As a local, friendly employer in Bournemouth, we are committed to supporting our local community, which is why we have developed our CSR programme to support charities in a number of different ways.”
Health-on-Line will not only be supporting the three specified charities, but also their own employees within their individual fundraising efforts, by applications submitted from employees to the Charity Panel. Over £600 has already been donated in 2016 to causes Health-on-Line employees are individually raising money for – from the BHF to Sports Relief. It is hoped through this scheme, individuals will be able to support charities close to their heart, as well as join together as a company to make a difference.
What are the services the charities provide?
The Isabel Baker Foundation is a charity close to a number of Health-on-Line employees, formed in memory of the founder’s daughter who sadly passed away from Infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in August 2015. Aiming to provide financial support to bereaved parents for three months after the loss of their child, which otherwise may not be available, this service aims to support parents in some of the hardest times. For a second year running Health-on-Line will be supporting Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance; a charity providing life-saving services, with operational costs of over £2 million per year. Last year Health-on-Line and its staff raised £3,000 for this cause, and hope to raise even more during 2016. The third charity supported by Health-on-Line, Diverse Abilities works with families to help meet the needs of local people, of all ages, with physical and learning disabilities. The charity provides a range of services, some of which include: a dedicated special day school for children called Langside School, supported living for adults and an advice service to provide assistance to ensure that any person with a disability or health condition has the right support they are entitled to. Each year the Charity provides around 250,000 hours of support for children and adults with learning disabilities in Dorset.
